The Pro Stock Truck class will return to the quarter-mile battlefield after a five-week break at the Mac Tools Gatornationals (March15-18). All five professional classes will be competing at Gainesville Raceway.
Team Jeg’s is determined to get back on track and return to their winning ways. The team brought their engine development program in-house after the season opening race in Pomona in an effort to have Richard Maskin and his staff at DART Machinery work exclusively on the Pro Stock car program (Jeg and Troy Coughlin). Everyone involved feels confident that the increased focus on each engine program will yield big dividends for each side of the team.
Scott DeYoung was hired to lead the charge back to the top. He became available when Team SABCO decided to end their engine development program shortly after Chip Gannassi bought the team. Scott also spent a number of years working at Richard Childress Racing.
The season is young and there is plenty of reshuffling in the points in store for fans. Mike Coughlin is currently No. 10 with 32 points. A strong performance at the Mac Tools Gatornationals could move him firmly into the top five. John Coughlin is resting in the No. 12 spot and ready to strike. He is a mere 22 points away from breaking back into the top ten.
“The fans in Gainesville are always great,” said Mike. “The Mac Tools Gatornationals is a race that I always look forward to. If the conditions are right, fans will be in store for record-breaking runs across the board. It should be exciting for everyone!”
“We are ready to get back to racing and go some rounds in Gainesville,” explained John. “It is very early in the season and having success now can make a big difference at the end of the year when points battles get tight.”
The Jeg’s Mail Order Pro Stock Trucks will spend a day testing in Bradenton, Florida before heading to Gainesville to compete in the Mac Tools Gatornationals. The goal of the test session is to get a firm handle on the new power combinations before the clock starts ticking and points are on the line.
