Porsche pushes on
The Stuck-Boutsen-Wollek pushed hard to make up the lost time. The GT1 Porsche no 25 was
regularly lapping faster than the two leading Joest cars and is now about a minute behind the
number 8. As for the leader, TWR Joest 7, it made a 5 minute pit stop during which the team
checked the oil system.
The Belgian team of the Ferrari no. 17 stepped up the rythym and took 6th place mainly to the
disadvantage of the McLaren BMW Bigazzi's.
Problems continue to occur in these 24 hours. The 'La Filiere' Courage was stopped by a clutch
failure, following a blocked accelerator. The team changed the offending parts and Henri
Pescarolo hopes to take the wheel again. Everything is going well for the Courage no. 3, currently
in 5th position after a good run.
The pit crew of the Ferrari F40 no. 56 had a hot time, when a fire broke out at 00h30 during a
refueling stop. The fuel tank was leaking, and the team decided to abandon.
The number 51 Oreca same into the pits for some repairs. The Kremer's night's work finished,
with the number 1 Kremer, driven by Jurgen Laessig, going off the track and seriously damaging
the back of the car. It got back to the pits, but was too badly damaged to be repaired.
The top three cars in the GT2 category has changed; the Roock Racing Porsche still leads, but
hte 82 Larbre, up till now 2nd, lost a lot of ground following a transmission problem. The two New
Zealand Parr Racing cars now complete the top three.
