They have been building RVs since then, and are still based in Riverside. Both the city and the company have grown tremendously, and Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: FLE) is now a leading manufacturer of recreational vehicles and a leading producer of manufactured housing. Fleetwood's RV line includes motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels and folding trailers, distributed through a nationwide network of more than 1,200 dealers and service centers. Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc. employs more than 11,500 workers and has RV manufacturing facilities in California, Oregon, Texas, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Maryland and Ontario, Canada. In 1989, Fleetwood purchased Coleman Recreation Vehicles, maker of popular folding campers since 1967. In 2003, Fleetwood ceased using the Coleman name, and put their own well-known brand name on the range of folding campers. From fabricating their own frames and lift systems, to sewing their own tents, Fleetwood manufactures the pop-up trailers at the former Coleman facility, comprising a sprawling 11 acres under one roof in Somerset, Pennsylvania. The production facility is capable of building more than 100 trailers a day, making Fleetwood the largest producer of folding campers in the U.S., with an approximate 45% share of the market.
