Speedway Heat

This Week's Show

Show Topics:
"D.A. Venditti Memorial Weekend: Sport Trucks"

Time Warner Cable

Time Warner Cable began its most ambitous project on May 6, 1995, when we started covering the competition at the bulirmg at Seekonk Speedway (Seekonk, Mass.). We came to the track with 4 cameras mounted at turns 1 & 4, at the press box, and a hand-held camera at the start-finish line. We also utilize slow-motion instant replay, Chyron graphics, and ENG for track reporting and Victory Lane interviews. We expect in the near future to utilize remote cameras and in-car cameras.

Speedway Heat is a show whose time has come, featuring New England race tracks such as Seekonk Speedway, and new for 1998, New Thompson Speedway in Thompson Conn. New England has some of the most competitive racing in the country, and many prominent drivers, such as Geoff Bodine, Jimmy Spencer, Steve Park, Ricky Craven, and Jerry Nadeau have roots here. New England is where you will find the heart & soul of such series as NASCAR Featherlite Modifieds, Busch Grand National North, and the PRO Tour Trucks, as well as pro stocks, late models, and open wheel action such as the New England Midget Association. Speedway Heat hopes to continue to add more race tracks, thereby adding the variety which is already the spice of New England racing life and the lifesblood of Speedway Heat.

The producers for Speedway Heat are Exec. Producer Wes Rea, Mark J. Chavous, Mike Sweeney, and Sue Coyle. Wes is Time Warner Cable's Regional Program director who developed Time Warner Cable's college sports coverage, has worked at the New England Sports Network and FOX-TV, and oversees Time Warner's programming operation; Mark J. Chavous created Speedway Heat and also directs and edits the show. Highlights from Speedway Heat's coverage has appeared on ESPN, ESPN2, and Speedvision; Mike Sweeney coordinates the production and supervises the crew; Sue Coyle handles the graphics and stats and works with Mike on production coordination.

Speedway Heat and Time Warner Cable are pleased that its first national exposure is through The Auto Channel. We hope the The Auto Channel's audience will enjoy the great racing action from the Northeast.
