ON A NEW FERRARI MAGAZINE

Andrew Frankl
European Bureau Chief

Let me start with a confession-I have a vested in the success of FORZA. I met Mr. Editor Rasmussen purely by chance just as he was planning Issue One. Having been associated with motoring magazines since the mid-60s the idea was enormously appealing and when Henry suggested that 1 became British Editor I jumped at the chance. By some sheer coincidence I had with me some pictures of the highlight of'95- lap of the legendary Fiorano track with Gerhard Berger. It ended up as a full page story. There is however a lot more to read in Issue One which is called Premiere Collectors Issue. This puzzled me somewhat until someone explained that copies of Issue One of Cavallino-also a Ferrari magazine-are now selling for 400 dollars each..(FORZA is $3.95.) Apparently one of the regular features will be the City Survey, something I found particularly interesting as it was San Francisco. Never forget meeting a Ferrari garage owner whom I ran into many, many years ago at the US Grand Prix when it was still at Watkins Glen. He looked and was seriously rich. After the third beer 1 inquired gently as to how he managed to make such a fortune just by repairing a few Ferraris.? The hills, he said with a huge smile. Those guys need new clutches every 5000 miles...having visited SF I now know what he was talking about..Ross Periodicals-publishers of FORZA-are in Novato, CA, their phone number is 415 382 0580.
