Lotus Vehicles at the 2004 LA Auto Show

Lotus Elise (North American Debut)
Called by Road & Track magazine “The purest sports car on the planet…,” the Elise is the newest minimalist 2-seater from Lotus. The composite body and lightweight chassis give it a curb weight of just over 1600 pounds, and with a 1.7-liter engine located just behind the driver delivering 190 horsepower to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, acceleration is… brisk.

Lotus Espirt V-8 Twin Turbo
Lotus is a legendary name among racing enthusiasts and devotees of lightweight, high performance, mid-engine, 2-seat sports cars, and 2004 marks the last year for the Lotus Esprit V8 Twin Turbo. Sitting behind the driver is a twin-turbocharged, 3.5-liter V-8 engine producing 350 horsepower. Top speed is in excess of 180 miles per hour, and 0 to 60 acceleration takes just 4.4 seconds.
