BMW SUVs at the 2004 LA Auto Show

BMW X3
The X3 is the ‘little brother’ of BMW’s X5 sport activity vehicle, yet they are virtually the same in external and internal dimensions. The difference lies in the X3’s lower price, 600-pound lighter weight, and the availability of 6-cylinder engines exclusively (the X5 comes with 6- or 8-cylinder engines). The X3 2.5i is powered by a 2.5-liter, 184 horsepower 6-cylinder, and the 3.0i has a 3.0-liter, 225 horsepower 6-cylinder under the hood.

BMW X5 4.8is (North American Debut)
Making its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show is the 4.8is, BMW’s top-of-the-range X5 model, a high-performance sports activity vehicle powered by a 4.8-liter, 360 horsepower V-8 engine. 0 to 60 mph acceleration takes just under 6.0 seconds, and the top speed is in excess of 150 mph.
