BMW comes to Paris with the Concept Active Tourer, which is a study for BMW’s first front-wheel drive production model. With a size that is almost the same as that of the Mercedes B-Class, the Concept Active Tourer will mean BMW’s entrance in the premium compact segment. The Concept has a plug-in hybrid system, that combines a 3-cylinder engine and a synchronous electric motor. The combined output is 140 kW/190 hp, good for an acceleration time of less than 8 seconds. The average fuel consumption is less than 94 mpg (!) and CO2 is under 60 grams. The lithium-ion battery can be charged at a conventional socket. Its capacity is enough for a range of more than 30 km, when operated on electric power alone
