Join the 37th Annual Walk for Hope and Step Forward to Transform Mental Health
RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 16, 2025 -- Foundation of Hope proudly announces the 37th Annual Thad & Alice Eure Walk for Hope 5K Walk and Festival, a cherished and powerful community tradition dedicated to raising awareness and funds for groundbreaking mental illness research. This year's event will be held on Sunday, October 12, with a new start time of 9:00 a.m. at the Angus Barn in Raleigh, inviting participants to join together for an inspiring day of community and hope.
The 5K walk is followed by a family-friendly festival featuring delicious food, live music from Band of Oz, a petting zoo, games, and more. The goal for this year's Walk for Hope is to raise $1M to fund breakthrough research and end the stigma of mental illness, critically important in a year marked by uncertainty and growing needs. 100% of the money raised by participants directly funds research in mental illness at the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Psychiatry.
Since 1984, the Walk for Hope has grown from 200 participants to a lively festival that now attracts more than 4,000 attendees. Walk for Hope has raised more than $10.7 million, allowing the Foundation of Hope to grant 210 scientific research awards, which have attracted an additional $272 million from the National Institute of Health and other federal agencies.
