Monaco, May 26, 2012: America's Conor Daly walked away from an airborne shunt in Race 2 at Monaco today. While attempting a pass coming out of the tunnel, and just prior to the nouvelle chicane, Daly's Lotus contacted the rear-wheels of a leading car driven by Marussia Manor GP's Dmitry Suranovich. As a result of the contact, Daly's car went airborne, impacted and spun across the catch fencing, then slammed onto the track shedding carbon fiber as he went on into the chicane's run-off area.

Although Daly was able to walk away handily, he had some harsh words for his competitor, "That was the biggest crash I've ever had. Thank you GP3 for a safe car. I could hardly believe that he was weaving that much with no rear wing. My car was mega, I hate when people do such stupid stuff" said Daly.

The stewards ultimately disallowed Suranovich's entire Race 2 classification on the basis of erratic driving.
