NHTSA Campaign ID: 15V179000
Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BATTERY
Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US LLC)
Manufacture Dates: 03/27/2012 - 11/01/2014
Potential Units Affected: 5660
Defect Description:
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Fiat 500 EV vehicles manufactured March 27, 2012, to November 1, 2014. If the vehicle goes in to limp home mode, incompatible software between Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) and Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) may cause the electric propulsion system to fully shut down.
Consequence:
An electric propulsion system shut down will cause a stall-like condition, increasing the risk of a crash.
Action to take:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software to ensure compatability between components, free of charge. The recall began on May 21, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R15.
2014 FIAT 500E
NHTSA Campaign ID: 14V235000
Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: BATTERY: PROPULSION SYSTEM
Manufacturer: Chrysler Group LLC
Manufacture Dates: 09/24/2012 - 04/04/2014
Potential Units Affected: 4141
Defect Description:
Chrysler Group, LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Fiat 500e Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) vehicles manufactured September 24, 2012, through April 4, 2014. Consequence:
If the service fuse blows, the vehicle would have a loss of propulsion while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Action to take:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the PIM, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P23.

2008 SMART FORTWO
NHTSA Campaign ID: 08V390000
Component: STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS
Manufacturer: SMART USA DISTRIBUTOR LLC
Manufacture Dates: 04/01/2008 - 06/30/2008
Potential Units Affected: 43
Defect Description:
SMART USA IS RECALLING 43 MY 2008 FORTWO 451 VEHICLES. A SINGLE BATCH OF PAINT SENT TO THE COMPANY DID NOT MEET SPECIFICATIONS. A RE-WORK WAS DONE IN THE PLANT USING DIFFERENT FORMULATIONS OF PAINTING MATERIALS. AFTER THE RE-WORK WAS COMPLETED, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE COMBINATION OF MATERIALS USED TO REPAINT THE FRAME AND CHASSIS COULD LEAD TO DE LAMINATION OF THE PAINT MATERIALS FROM THE BODY AND FRAME STRUCTURES.
Consequence:
SUCH DE LAMINATING CAN TAKE PLACE IN THE AREA OF THE BODY WHERE THE WINDSHIELD AND ROOF HAVE BEEN AFFIXED WITH ADHESIVE, WHICH COULD AFFECT THE ADHESION OF THOSE COMPONENTS TO THE VEHICLE BODY, INCREASING THE RISK OF SEPARATION. THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH IF THE ROOF OR WINDSHIELD SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION.
Action to take:
DEALERS WILL REPAINT THE AFFECTED AREAS TO MEET SPECIFICATIONS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 18, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SMART USA AT 1-248-648-2451.
