Péter Üveges

by Paul Negyesi

Tall, quiet, sensible - the 27-year-old Péter Üveges recentlygraduated. His talent matches Tasi's, but his attitude is more modest, humble. He always quiet, never raises his voice. But he's more passionatethan any of the other Mazomotos. He lives in the charm of the curves.

Péter, 27, studied toy-design in his secondary school and when he finishedit, he immediately applied to the University of Crafts and Design in Budapest. He showed me some drawings which he did as a little boy. He always lovedcars and curves. His diplom work was a street-lamp in 1993. When a respected designer saw this street lamp he decided to make an offerto Üveges on buying the idea. The negotiations are under way. It'd serve as a garden-lamp.

He always worked with Tasi since the 1992 Opel contest.

His work, a leisure car, gained 2nd place. It's based on the multipurpose function, but it heads on a new direction: You can take off parts from the car (not just the top, asit's shown on one of the sketches) and create another model. He admitted contributing to the 424, but he had another project at thattime: a Hungarian TV company decided to create Hungary's first sci-fi series. They comissioned Tasi and Üveges to design the spaceships. Here are the results:

These are very detailed maquettes and very created also from polyurethane.

His work for the master diplom was a dental equipment. Although it's only a mock-up various companies are interested in it. It has the domination of the simple, but purposeful curves. "One gesture, one swing - and You have the perfect item". He's now working on a playground.
