Car of the Week - May 21, 2001

2001 GMC Sierra HT

This eye-popping 2001 GMC Sierra is the HT or Hot Truck, and it lives up to its name in both style and performance. At this time you will only be able to find it in Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Texas - but you can bet that'll change soon.

It Has Torque aplenty (285 ft-lbs)delivered from its beefy 4.8-liter V8 with 270 horsepower.

It Handles Terrific with its rigid frame, dynamic braking, and Z85 handling suspension - much tighter than your usual truck experience. As our Carey Russ remarks: "The happy puppy handles!"

It's expansive cab, generous headroom, and industrial strength fold-down consol give a feel of strength and security, and in either "sunblast yellow" or "sunforest green" - with matching wrapped leather steering wheel - tooling around this is spiffy new truck is guaranteed to make Heads Turn!
