Eagle For 1997

By Carey Russ

Eagle is the Chrysler Corporation that sells upscale cars with sporting intent and international character. Its offerings include the Talon sports coupe and Vision sports sedan.

Talon

The Eagle Talon has new bodywork front and rear, and new bodyside moldings for 1997. A new entry-level model should widen the Talon's appeal. It's powered by a Chrysler-built 140-horsepower, 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine, and joins the three existing models.

The Talon ESi is similar to the base model, but has more features. The TSi uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 210 exciting horsepower. Base, ESi, and TSi models are front-wheel drive. The top-of-the-line TSi AWD comes in an all-wheel drive configuration for maximum traction and performance. It has larger wheels and tires this year.

Vision

The Eagle Vision is the sportiest of the LH cars. With front- wheel drive, 4-wheel independent suspension, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and a choice of V6 engines, it is aimed at driving enthusiasts. It was the first car to get the Autostick manually-shiftable automatic transmission, standard equipment on the TSi model.
