The GTO option was no longer available on the intermediate LeMans in 1974, but on two Ventura models instead--a two-door notchback and a two-door hatchback coupe. The Ventura was Pontiac's version of the Chevrolet Nova.

The GTO could be identified by a functional shaker hood scoop, similar to the unit found on the Firebird Trans Am, a GTO decal on the right side of the grille panel, GTO decal on the rear deck or hatch and GTO decals on each front fender behind the wheelwells. Decal color varied with body-color paint. In the interior, there was a GTO emblem on each door panel.

Only one engine was available--a 350 c.i. V-8 rated at 200hp mated to a three-speed manual transmission. Compression ratio was 7.6:1. Optional were a four-speed manual and the three-speed automatic. Dual exhausts were standard using a single transverse muffler. The stock exhaust tailpipes exited behind the rear wheels with chrome exhaust splitters optional.

Standard on the GTO was a split bench seat with a variety of bench seat variations and bucket seats optional.

Standard on the GTO were 14x6" Rally II wheels without trim rings (they were optional). E70x14 belted blackwalls were standard.

Also standard were drum brakes, a .812" front and a .562 rear anti-sway bar.

All other Ventura options were available in conjunction with the GTO option package.

It was rather a sad ending for what was once a glorious nameplate. It is just as well that Pontiac did not continue on with the GTO.
