In the summer of 1997, BMW introduced its long-awaited entry into the cruiser segment of the motorcycle market - the R 1200 C. Equipped with the largest "boxer" engine ever built by BMW, the R 200 C features a 1170 cc powerplant - complete the Digital Motor Electronics and three-way catalytic converter - that delivers outstanding performance on city streets, highways or winding country roads. BMW's "Ultimate Cruising Machine" earned Popular Science's "Best of What's New" Award in 1997 and made its screen debut in the James Bond film, "Tomorrow Never Dies."
