BMW K 1200 RS (1997-present) |
BMW's K Series motorcycles took a quantum leap forward in 1997 with the introduction of the all-new, four-cylinder K 1200 RS. Featuring the largest displacement engine ever fitted into a BMW motorcycle, this "Special K" is the first BMW to produce over 100 horsepower, the first BMW with a six-speed transmission, the first with two three-way exhaust catalysts, the first with ram-air induction, and the first BMW four-cylinder to be fitted with the "boxer's" Telelever front suspension. Delivering 130 hp, the K 1200 RS is clearly the most powerful BMW motorcycle ever, while its many other innovations also make it BMW's most sophisticated performance tourer.
