GONE (FOR NOW) BUT NEVER FORGOTTON

For generations, both in the UK and abroad, the English car was the AUSTIN. The Flying A, designed by Dick Burzi, led travellers down roads as far aflung as Rhodesia in Africa to North America. For generations of motorists, the script Austin of England came to mean engineering excellence, total reliability, and an almost indefinable warm friendliness. If all the roads of Empire led to London, then be sure that those roads were filled with Austins. If God was indeed an Englishman, then be assured that he too would have driven an Austin.

The advertising slogans of the period bear witness to this confidence:

  • You BUY a car - You INVEST in an Austin!
  • AUSTIN - you can depend on it!
  • AUSTIN looks Years Ahead!
  • Buy AUSTIN and be proud of it!
