Bikes competing in Dakar 97
With the bikes, we must make special mention of the massive international entry. The Irish return in force with 4 riders, 3 of them with the new make CCM. Also returning are the 2 Brazilian Azevedo brothers, Heinz Kinigadner (even if its not yet official) will be at the start of the next TOTAL DAKAR 97 with KTM again. Of notable interest is the participation of Eric Bernard, 4th in the 96 World Enduro Championship and in the top 3 French for 2 years, for whom this will be his first Dakar. The competition will be tough
