Flying Start to Year for Scania in Denmark

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--March 8, 2001--Scania Bus Nordic has started the year strongly in Denmark by securing an order for 91 buses from Combus, one of the country's leading bus operators.
"Scania signed a main supplier contract with Combus last year," explains Leif Nystrom, MD of Scania Bus Nordic AB. "This order is a result of that."
The main supplier contract with Combus covers the years 2001 and 2002. Of the company's total requirement of 97 new buses, Scania has received an order for 91.
"Most of the buses which have been ordered will be delivered this year," adds Leif Nystrom. "The greater proportion will be built at Scania's Danish production unit in Silkeborg, on chassis produced in Katrineholm.
Of the buses on order, 58 will be of Scania's new OmniLine intercity type and 20 will be OmniLink low-entrance city and suburban buses. All will be equipped with Scania's 9-litre Euro 3 engine with a particulate filter. The remaining 13 vehicles will be built on Scania's intercity bus chassis, with bodies from Lahti in Finland.
With a fleet of about 1,200 buses, Combus is one of the biggest bus operators in Denmark. The company is jointly-owned by Arriva in Britain and Connex in France.

Scania is one of the world's leading manufacturers of trucks and buses for heavy transport applications, and of industrial and marine engines. With 26,900 employees and production facilities in Europe and Latin America, Scania is one of the most profitable companies in its sector. In 2000, turnover totalled SEK 53,800 million and the result after financial items was SEK 4,500 million. Scania products are marketed in about 100 countries worldwide and some 95 percent of Scania's vehicles are sold outside Sweden.
