NAIAS Charity Preview Traffic Advisory
    DETROIT, Jan. 11 With 17,500 people expected to attend the
North American International Auto Show Charity Preview, steps are being taken
to keep traffic congestion to a minimum.  Following is a list of traffic
changes, effective for Friday, Jan. 12 only:

    4 p.m.
    *  Parking restricted on the following streets:
       -  Jefferson from Washington Blvd.
       -  Shelby from Larned to Jefferson
       -  Congress from Washington Blvd. to Second
       -  Larned from Washington Blvd. to Shelby

    5 p.m.
    *  Atwater Street access limited to vehicles with special placard
    *  Shelby closed between Larned and Jefferson
    *  Renaissance Center Drive to Atwater becomes limited access (Miller
        Garage will maintain normal operations)

    5:30 p.m.
    *  Congress between Cass and First changes to two-way street (GM shuttles
       only on eastbound Congress)

    6 p.m.
    *  Atwater becomes one-way westbound
    *  Griswold between Fort and Jefferson -- no parking after 6 p.m.
    *  Parking restriction extended:
       -  Jefferson from Washington to Beaubien
       -  Congress from Washington to Woodward
       -  Shelby from Jefferson to Fort
       -  Fort from First to Shelby

    7:30 p.m.
    *  Access to Cobo restricted
    *  Fort and Cass Ave. -- northbound traffic only

    8 p.m.
    *  Southbound Lodge Freeway is closed at Howard Street

    These traffic changes will be in effect until approximately 10 p.m.
Friday.
    Detroit Police Officers will be stationed at several key intersections in
Detroit to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
