Kia Rio Price Goes Up $300; Price of Subcompact Sedan Still Starts Below $9,000IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 6 Kia Motors America today announced a $300 increase on its hot-selling Rio subcompact sedan. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) on the base model goes from $8,595 to $8,895, while the MSRP on the Rio with an automatic transmission goes from $9470 to $9,770. "Since the Rio went on sale in August, sales have been very strong," said Dick Macedo, executive director of marketing and sales. "Even with this price increase, the Rio remains one of the best values in America." The Rio reflects Kia's reputation for building affordable, high-quality vehicles, a reputation that has made it one of the fastest-growing brands in America. The Rio, like all 2001 Kias, is covered by the Kia Long Haul Warranty Program(TM). The Kia Long Haul Warranty Program(TM), was introduced in July and consists of three warranty components and a roadside assistance component. They are a 10-year or 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, a five-year or 60,000-mile limited basic warranty, a five-year or 100,000-mile anti-perforation warranty and a five-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance plan. In the three warranty components, the coverage ends when either the yearly or total-mileage figure is reached. Previously, Kia offered the industry-standard three-year or 36,000-mile limited basic warranty, a five-year or 60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty and three-year or 36,000-mile roadside assistance coverage.
