Central Parking System Positioned as a Key Player in New York ''Subway Series''

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Central Parking Corporation today indicated that it is positioned as a key player in Major League Baseball's upcoming World Series, dubbed the "Subway Series" and starting this Saturday. Under contract with the New York City Department of Parks, the Company manages the combined 15,700 parking spaces directly connected with both Shea and Yankee Stadiums.

Monroe J. Carell, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer, commented, "We are certainly not picking a favorite between the Yankees and Mets but are hoping that the Series goes the distance to a seventh game. Our team is ready for this important assignment. Although we understand the television cameras will be focused on action inside each stadium, our team will invest over 1,000 combined hours each game helping fans park about 8,000 vehicles quickly and safely."

Carell added, "We had two other contenders in the playoffs to be World Champions; namely, the Atlanta Braves (Turner Field) and the St. Louis Cardinals (Busch Stadium). One of our specialties has been helping to plan and manage the often complex demands associated with parking in connection with major sports stadiums. We are pleased that in addition to assisting these stadiums, we manage the parking related to Cinergy Field, Coors Field, Tropicana Field and Veteran Stadium."

Central Parking Corporation, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, is a leading provider of parking services. The Company operates approximately 4,700 parking facilities containing more than 1.6 million spaces at locations in 40 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Chile, Germany, Mexico, Venezuela, Poland and Spain.
