Enova Systems and Capstone Announce a Joint Marketing Agreement

TORRANCE, Calif.--Oct. 17, 2000--Enova Systems, Torrance, (OTCBB:ENVA), today announced that it will be entering into a Joint Marketing Agreement with leading Micro-Turbine supplier Capstone Turbine to provide turbine powered hybrid-electric propulsion systems for global markets.
"This Joint Marketing Agreement marks a significant step in the continued growth of Enova Systems as a leading global supplier of electric and hybrid-electric propulsion systems," stated Carl Dean Perry, President and CEO of Enova Systems. "Teaming with Capstone to market this new series hybrid propulsion system will allow Enova to offer our customers another complete solution to their propulsion needs. This new product offering has tremendous potential, and we are proud that Capstone has elected to work with Enova in this critical market space."
This highly efficient propulsion system will fully integrate Enova's propulsion and power management systems with Capstone's Micro-Turbine to provide a complete solution for turbine-based series hybrid drive systems. As a series hybrid, the propulsion system will get its power during cruising from the Micro-Turbine, while a small on-board battery pack provides additional power for acceleration.
The advantage of this configuration is that range is not limited to the battery size, and both the turbine and battery can be significantly smaller than they would need to be in either a pure electric or a pure combustion configuration. Since the Micro-Turbine, propulsion system, and power management are fully integrated, the engineering and integration tasks for automotive and transit OEMs adopting the new drive will be significantly reduced.
The wide range of propulsion systems provided by Enova, ranging from 30kW to 240kW, combined with Capstone's 30kW and new 60kW Micro-Turbines will allow the companies to provide propulsion solutions for vehicles ranging from passenger cars to large trucks and transit buses.
"Enova's reputation as a propulsion system supplier in the automotive and transit markets is solid, and we are already working with Enova and Hyundai Motor Company to integrate our 30kW Micro-Turbine into the new Sante Fe SUV. This Joint Marketing Agreement is the next logical step as we continue to expand our presence in the transportation markets," said Dr. Ake Almgren, President and CEO of Capstone Turbine.
