"It's out with the old and in with the new as two of the newest cars on the market move into our top-ten list," said Maryann Keller, president of priceline.com Auto Services. "First, the Chrysler PT Cruiser is showing strong staying power, as it continues to climb our sales list as dealer inventory increases. This month's number-four ranking equals the highest achieved by a vehicle from Detroit's 'Big Three'. Another new vehicle, the Mazda Tribute, a small sport utility vehicle, also made a strong showing this month, debuting at number five, right behind the PT Cruiser."
Adds Keller: "Also of note this month is the absence of larger SUVs and pickup trucks from the top-ten list. We may be seeing evidence that higher gas prices are impacting sales of these larger vehicles."
