Brown & Sharpe Nets GLOBAL Sales and Inquiries At International Trade Show

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I.--Sept. 28, 2000--Brown & Sharpe's recent participation in the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago resulted in significant product sales and a high level of inquiries.
During the eight-day show, Brown & Sharpe, a leading manufacturer of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and precision measuring instruments, received 11 orders for it's new GLOBAL(TM) line of CMMs. The GLOBAL CMM was introduced to the Americas at IMTS and helped generate in excess of 3,000 inquiries for Brown & Sharpe's full line of metrology products.
The GLOBAL orders represent a high percentage of the machines sold at the show. These new coordinate measuring machines are faster, more accurate and less costly than traditional bridge-style CMMs. The new GLOBAL line combines several generations of Brown & Sharpe manufacturing and measurement technology and completely replaces the company's existing bridge-style product line with a resulting reduction in manufacturing, service and repair, and distribution costs.
"IMTS was one of the most successful trade we have ever participated in," said David. H. Genest, Brown & Sharpe Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications. "It also represents one of our most successful new product launches. We are very enthused at the high level of customer interest in the new GLOBAL."
The company also introduced the new PMM-C and ALPHA coordinate measuring machines to the Americas' market at IMTS. The PMM-C combines laboratory accuracy with high speed and improved acceleration to reduce inspection time and cost. The ALPHA is a cost effective medium capacity gantry-style CMM featuring high throughput and high accuracy with improved operating reliability and reduced maintenance requirements.
