2001 Honda Accord, Odyssey Prices Increase 1.7 Percent TORRANCE, Calif., Aug. 31 Prices for 2001 Honda Accord and
Honda Odyssey models will increase an average of just 1.7 percent despite
significant equipment increases when compared to current models, according to
pricing information released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
Accord prices will increase an average of $366 and Odyssey prices will
increase an average $430, both on a sales-weighted basis. Both models are now
being shipped to dealers. Destination and handling charges are unchanged at
$440. Prices for other Honda vehicles will be announced closer to their
on-sale date.
The 2001 Accord sedan and coupe line-up features freshened front and rear
styling. More than 20 engine and body component enhancements have been
incorporated for an improved and quieter driving experience.
Enhanced safety features for all new Accord models include the addition of
seatbelt pretensioners and advanced dual stage front airbags for both the
driver and front seat passenger that detect crash severity and seatbelt use
and adjusts the force of air bag deployment. As a result, a five-star NCAP
rating for frontal impacts has been targeted with results pending NHTSA
certification.
Also added to all Accords is the "LATCH" (for Lower Anchors and Tethers
for CHildren) system used to assist in securing child safety seats. In
addition, side SRS is now standard on all EX and V6 Accord models and
available as a $250 option on DX and LX trim levels. The advanced side-SRS
design employs an airbag cutoff system on the front passenger seat that will
prevent the side airbag from deploying if a child (or small-stature adult) is
leaning into the side airbag deployment path.
The Accord LX Sedan powered by a 4-cylinder engine and with an automatic
transmission, the most popular Accord model accounting for about 20 percent of
all Accord sales, also adds an upgraded AM/FM stereo with in-dash CD Player
and six speakers. Its Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) increases
by $250 to $19,590.
The Accord EX Sedan (4-cylinder with automatic) adds side airbags as
standard along with a new 3-in-1 stereo system consisting of AM/FM stereo,
cassette and six-disc in-dash CD player and standard floor mats. The price of
the 2001 model increases $350 to an MSRP of $22,200.
All V6 Accord models add Honda's TCS traction control system as standard.
The V6 LX model increases $450 to $22,400, while the EX model also adds a
power passenger seat for a MSRP of $25,100, an increase of $550.
All Odyssey models have also added the "LATCH" system to second row seats
and top tether anchors for third row seating positions. An intermittent rear
wiper has been added to both models. Floor mats are now standard. Front
stereo speakers have been upgraded on both models.
The Odyssey LX model has added Traction Control and a manual driver seat
height adjustment to its list of standard equipment. The Odyssey LX has a
MSRP of $23,900 for 2001, an increase of $500.
Odyssey EX models have added a security system to the keyless remote
feature. Odyssey EX prices have increased $400 to $26,400 and $28,400 for the
EX model equipped with the navigational system.
