BANDON, Ore. - Nearly five percent of Ford Explorer intenders say they "definitely" will not purchase that vehicle as long as it is fitted with Firestone tires. Another 11 percent of intenders said they were seriously considering a brand other than Explorer specifically because of concerns about the safety of Firestone tires. The survey was conducted by CNW Marketing Research, Inc. on August 12 and 13 among 2,414 consumers who were planning to buy or lease a sport utility vehicle and had a Ford Explorer among the products on their shopping list.
