29 July 2000

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- According to a news release on the New 96 Speedway

web-site the promoters have canceled the August 5 round of the AMA Progressive

Insurance U.S. Flat Track Championships. Further details were not immediately

available.

The news release states "The New 96 Speedway regrets that due to events

beyond our control, the racetrack will be forced to suspend operations until

further notice. The Slager family will continue to work in order to reopen the

race track yet this season. At this time, both this Saturday's race, and the

August 5th AMA race have been canceled. We will continue with status updates in

both print media and on our website. Please direct all inquiries to the office

at (616)-642-6500."

"We regret losing the New 96 Speedway event," stated AMA Pro Racing's Flat

Track Manager, Bruce Bober, "we're now exploring the option of adding an

additional event to the 2000 season schedule, and we will announce any additions

as soon as possible."
