New 2001 Acura MDX Promotion Helps Restore Forests Across AmericaTORRANCE, Calif. - The environmental advantages of the new 2001 Acura MDX sport utility vehicle has inspired a unique promotional concept that will restore forest habitat across the United States in areas like the Yellowstone ecosystem. Every time a visitor registers at http://www.acura.com/2001MDX to receive vehicle information, Acura will plant a tree as part of the American Forests' Global ReLeaf program to help rebuild vital forest lands. "The MDX is a positive environmental step forward in the evolution of SUVs," said Adam Schoenberg, Director of Corporate Development for American Forests. "Acura has a convincing environmental story to tell with the new MDX and their commitment has enabled us to help reforest several sites across the country, including the planting of native whitebark pine trees in areas around Yellowstone that have been severely damaged by fires." The new 2001 Acura MDX SUV has earned Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) emissions certification in all 50 states. It scored higher in mileage tests than any other 6-cylinder 4x4 SUV with a 17-mpg city/23-mpg highway performance. Recycled parts are specified where possible to reduce weight and improve durability. And the aerodynamic design contributes to overall fuel efficiency, as well as low wind noise. After the fall launch, an all-expense paid trip for two to Yellowstone, complete with an MDX for touring the area, will be awarded to one registered site visitor. "Because the vehicle launches in October, we wanted to start an introductory campaign and found that our Web site was the perfect place," said Dave Heath, Senior Manager of Sales Communications, Acura Division, American Honda Motor Company. "Environmental enthusiasts and prospective customers can visit http://www.acura.com/2001MDX for the latest information on the vehicle launch and the reforestation partnership with American Forests. Our goal is to plant 20,000 trees and we're optimistic that we'll reach that number by the time we launch." About American Forests American Forests is the world leader in tree planting for environmental restoration and the nation's oldest nonprofit conservation organization. The group has established over 160 Global ReLeaf forest sites across North America in the past decade. Tree planting associated with these projects benefits wildlife and helps clean the air and water. For additional information, check http://www.americanforests.org.
