Seven Stations to Perform Vehicle Inspections by Appointment Only

21 July 2000

Parson to Begin Taking Appointments July 24

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Seven motor vehicle inspection stations located throughout New Jersey will perform inspections by appointment only, starting August 1. The stations are Bridgeton, Cape May, Montclair, Ridgewood, Salem, Washington (Warren County) and Westfield.

Although the appointment system does not begin until August, New Jersey motorists can start making appointments July 24, by calling 1-888-NJ MOTOR. By August 30, motorists can log on to www.cleanairnj.org to schedule an appointment online.

"The new appointment system will help decrease wait times at these one and two-lane facilities," said James Singer, general manager of Parsons Infrastructure and Technology Group. "This will make the vehicle inspection process faster and more convenient for motorists."

Parsons reminds motorists to check all paperwork before going for inspection. A current driver's license registration and insurance card are required before an inspection can be performed. The registration does not have to be new, just valid.

Commencing August 1, hours of operation for the stations offering appointments will be from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with late night hours once a week. The facilities are also open from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
