BMW Posts Record Sales of Motorcycles and Riders Wear

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. - BMW of North America the importer and distributor of BMW motorcycles in the U.S. since 1980, has broken its previous record for sales in the second quarter, by finishing this term with sales of 3683 units, an increase of 14% over record setting 1999. Year to date, the marque has sold a total of 6008 units, a 16% increase over last year. "BMW Motorcycles are enjoying strong sales across the entire model range, with significant gains reported for the K 1200 LT, the R 1200 C and its variants, and the R 1150 GS." commented Ed Robinson, Vice President of BMW of North America, Motorcycles. Another area of strength for BMW has been the popular reception of the new Riders Apparel line. According to Tom Plucinsky, Aftersales Manager, BMW Motorcycles, "BMW has long produced the some of the most advanced riding apparel, but the new line has improved performance, styling and most importantly, price. We now offer a full protection, all weather suit that has exceptional features, for under $600. More than ever, we are finding that riders of all makes are coming into authorized BMW Riders Apparel retail centers in search of these products."
