CYPRESS, Calif. - Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America reported record sales
of 32,321 vehicles in June 2000, driving the company to its best sales month,
best second quarter and best first half in the company's history. June's
results exceeded the all-time sales record posted just last month of 29,390
vehicles, and puts the company well on track to top the 300,000 mark in sales
for the year.

(MMSA's sales results are for the 30-day period of June 1 through
June 30.)

-- June sales of 32,321 vehicles marks the best month in the company's
history, topping 30,000 units for the first time and achieving an 88%
increase over the same month last year.
-- Second quarter sales of 86,134 units increased 54% over the same
period last year, a new record.
-- First half sales of 156,564 units increased 42% over the first half of
        1999, another new record.
    -- On a model-year-to-date basis (October 1-June 30), sales increased 53%
        over the previous year.

"These spectacular numbers are significant because they're on top of
1999's record breaking results," said Pierre Gagnon, MMSA executive vice
president and chief operating officer. "I'm more confident than ever that we
are well on our way to surpassing 300,000 sales this year, our second record
breaking year in a row, and well ahead of schedule to sell 400,000 per year by
2005."
