Isuzu Commercial Division Continues Record Sales Pace

9 June 2000

CERRITOS, Calif. - American Isuzu Motors Inc. announced the second highest
May commercial vehicle retail sales month in the company's history. The strong
May sales performance includes a 27% increase in dealer deliveries and has
AIMI's commercial vehicle division on target to reach its record 2000 sales
forecast.

Leading the way in the successful May retail sales figures was the Class-5
NQR with 272 trucks sold, a solid 25% increase over May 1999 year-to-date sales.
Just as impressive was the performance of the FRR, which continues to grow in
popularity in the high end of the Class-5 segment. With 138 trucks sold, the
May 2000 FRR sales figure nearly doubles 1999's May retail sales number. The
NPR EFI, the only gasoline powered low cab forward truck on the market,
continued to capture an ever larger portion of the Class-3/4 segment with 375
May retail sales, a 36% increase over the 1999 figure.

"We are very pleased with the performance of our commercial vehicle
division and we are looking forward to the rest of the year providing a
continuation of this success. A major portion of this success can be
attributed to the cohesive relationship between Isuzu, our dealers and our
customers," said Jim Underwood, Senior Vice President, COO, Commercial
Vehicle.

Isuzu commercial vehicles are distributed through a network of 205
commercial vehicle dealers across the U.S. Isuzu trucks have been the number
one low cab forward trucks in the U.S. for 15 consecutive years. Over 230,000
Isuzu-designed Class 3-7 vehicles have been sold in the U.S. since 1984.
