8 May 2000

State-of-the-art Columbus Store Hosts Grand Opening

MASON, Ohio--Pickups Plus, Inc., on Saturday celebrated the grand opening of its newest truck and SUV accessory franchise in Columbus, Ohio. The state-of-the-art 5,000-square-foot facility is a prototype for the Cincinnati-based retailer and franchiser.

"Pickups Plus is the only national accessories company that caters exclusively to drivers of pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles," said Pickups Plus President John Fitzgerald. "The Columbus store epitomizes what Pickups Plus has to offer: great products, deep expertise, true value in customer service and quality on-site installation.

"Pickups Plus is a pro shop to truck and SUV drivers," Fitzgerald continued. "The look, the feel, the people and the service of the Columbus store instantly convey that message."

The store, located in the Hilliard area at 4537 Cemetery Road, is a free-standing building that features a complete line of aftermarket accessories for pickups and SUVs, a 2,200-square-foot installation area and a comfortable waiting area where customers can pass the time while their vehicles are customized. The store opened March 11 and posted record first-month sales of more than $37,000.

"Business has been terrific," said franchisee Larry McCoy. "Hilliard and Columbus really have opened their arms to Pickups Plus, and we are grateful. We hosted the open house to demonstrate our commitment to the community. We want to be as good a neighbor to Columbus as the city has been to us."

The grand opening featured a look at the Pickups Plus PARTS Pro Series race truck and other vehicles food, entertainment, door prizes, and D.A.R.E. officers from the Hilliard, Ohio, Police Department.

"Along with Larry and his family, Pickups Plus is pleased to be part of the Columbus marketplace," Fitzgerald said. "We're excited to be here, and excited about our growing business."

Pickups Plus has 11 stores nationwide that cater to owners of trucks and sport utility vehicles. Already a market leader in the $30 billion a year truck and SUV accessory market, Pickups Plus plans to expand to six new markets around the country in the coming year.
