Evenflo Announces Availability of Safety Upgrade Kit for On My Way Position Right Infant Car Seat Bases

VANDALIA, Ohio--April 13, 2000--Evenflo Company, Inc. of Vandalia, Ohio is offering a free upgrade kit to owners of Evenflo On My Way(R) Position Right(TM) infant car seats.
Evenflo has discovered that after repeated use by consumers, two alignment posts in the Position Right(TM) base can become bent. If the posts are bent, consumers may have difficulty installing the carrier onto the base. Bent posts could also interfere with proper latching of the carrier to the base preventing the child from being properly restrained. The kit prevents the posts in the base from bending.
The car seats themselves still meet or exceed all federal safety standards.
This kit is for Position Right(TM) bases manufactured before February 10, 2000 only, and is not needed for any other On My Way(R) base. The bases have the words "Position Right" on them and also have a large, red knob used for adjusting the angle of the base when installed in the vehicle. These bases may have been sold individually, together with an On My Way(R) Position Right(TM) car seat, or in an Easy Comfort Premier(TM) or Trendsetter Advantage(TM) travel system (with a car seat and matching stroller). Position Right(TM) bases manufactured after February 10, 2000 have already been revised by Evenflo, and do not require the kit.
Consumers who own Position Right(TM) bases manufactured before February 10, 2000 should inspect their bases immediately for bent posts and call Evenflo at (800) 316-4779 anytime to receive a free kit. If either post is bent, please discontinue use of the base and contact Evenflo. You may still use the On My Way(R) carrier without the base using the built-in seat belt guides.
Evenflo has ensured that On My Way(R) Position Right(TM) car seats, travel systems and bases currently available for sale at retail stores have been revised and do not require the kit.
