American Isuzu Motors Reports January SUV Sales Up 24%

6 February 2000

10-year / 120,000 Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty Cited as Substantial Influencer

CERRITOS, Calif. -- American Isuzu Motors Inc.'s (AIMI) SUV division,
building on its solid performance in 1999, opened the new year with a robust
24% sales increase in January 2000 compared to January 1999 numbers. AIMI's
core products of Rodeo, Amigo, and Trooper, were strong in January with the
latter's sales up an impressive 50%. The company's executives attributed the
new 10-year, 120,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty as a major factor to
the sales performance.

Rodeo's January, 2000 retail sales rose 16% compared to last January and
Amigo showed a healthy 13% retail sales increase for the same period. In
addition, VehiCROSS continued to sell at near target levels.

"We're extremely pleased with our customers' response to our SUV line in
January," said Bob Reilly, AIMI's senior vice president, COO, SUV. "The fresh
new styling on the 2000 Isuzu SUVs is very appealing as is the mix of
technical innovations such as Intelligent Suspension Control and the industry
leading TORQUE-ON-DEMAND(R) 4WD system. The combination of great new looks,
an excellent technical package and our 10 year/ 120,000 mile Powertrain
Limited Warranty, the longest warranty in the industry, is proving
irresistible. We're expecting a very strong year."

"We're excited about starting the new-year on such positive footing," said
Buck Trawick, vice president, SUV Sales. "Our SUVs closed last year with
solid, respectable gains and that trend is continuing for us."

American Isuzu Motors Inc. is the U.S. distributor of Isuzu sport utility
vehicles, commercial vehicles and diesel engines.
