Chevron Cars Teams with N2H2's Searchopolis to Drive Students to Design Car of the Future; Writing Contest Inspires Teens as Part of 3-Month Internet Program

SEATTLE--Feb. 1, 2000--Leading Internet content management and filtering company N2H2, Inc. announced today it is teaming with Chevron Cars(TM) to award technology prizes and savings bonds to students who can best envision the car of the future.
Chevron Cars wants students to write about what we'll be driving in the future in a nationwide essay contest currently being held on Searchopolis (www.searchopolis.com), N2H2's educational portal with filtered Internet search capabilities.
The Chevron Cars Future Car Writing Contest, which runs through April 10, 2000, inspires students ages 13 to 18 to imagine the car of the future. Chevron Cars is holding the contest as part of a three-month program on the Searchopolis education portal that also features Chevron-sponsored educational content asking students to consider key elements in car design.
"We teamed with N2H2 to reach today's teens because of N2H2's approach and expertise in the Internet and connection to millions of students across the country," said Glenn Weckerlin, manager of brand strategy, Chevron Products Company. "Using N2H2's Internet services as a promotion vehicle for our message increases the level of participation and excitement."
Contest winners will receive individual prizes as well as prizes for their schools, including savings bonds for themselves and computer systems for their classrooms. Students are able to submit their essays via e-mail or at the Searchopolis site. Winners will be announced on April 30 and their submissions posted on Searchopolis.
"We're pleased to work with Chevron Cars to tap teens' imaginations," said Peter Nickerson, CEO and president of N2H2. "This program is a key part of our mission to deliver engaging and safe Internet content and services to schools through the support of appropriate national sponsors."
The Chevron Cars Future Car Writing contest is being promoted on N2H2's Searchopolis and via its Bess(R) Internet filtering service, currently used by millions of students nationwide. Through the support of Chevron Cars, N2H2 is able to help increase student Internet productivity by providing its premier filtering services to schools at no charge.
