Cycle World International Motorcycle Show Returns to Philadelphia

20 January 2000

SANTA ANA, Calif.--It's back! The 281,000(1) motorcyclists registered in Pennsylvania have something to rev their engines over this year.

Following a three year hiatus, the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show(R) presented by Toyota Trucks has returned to Philadelphia for its biggest and best showing ever. Part of the largest consumer-oriented powersports show series in the nation, the Philadelphia event will celebrate its 13th year at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Jan. 21-23, 2000

A virtual toy store for adults (and kids), the event will showcase the newest millennium model vehicles and accessories from the motorcycle, personal watercraft and scooter industries.

Rather than going from dealership to dealership to check out all the newest bikes, cycle buffs will be able to see showcase displays from top manufacturers such as BMW, Buell, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, Triumph, Victory and Yamaha -- all under one roof. Representatives from local dealerships will be on hand to answer questions and to help enthusiasts determine the perfect ride for their size and experience level.

Looking for a deal on a helmet or a new pair of boots? Show attendees are in luck again. The Philadelphia event will feature the latest products from Accel Motorcycle Products; Arai Helmets; Bridgestone/Firestone Tire; Chatterbox; Custom Chrome; Dunlop Tire; Dynojet Research; GI.VI USA; HJC Helmets; K&N Engineering; Kendon Industries; National Cycle; Performance Machine; Progressive Suspension; Samson Motorcycle Products; Shoei Helmets; and Yuasa, as well as from local dealers and retailers for the powersports industry.

In addition to the displays, show-goers can participate in product seminars and obtain specific parts numbers for their vehicles at The Factory, an interactive information interface for parts and accessories.

Not for the weak at heart, Team Extreme will be on hand to dazzle the crowd with their hair-raising observed motorcycle trials demonstration. Imagine a motorcycle launching up a 10 foot vertical wall and then landing on a platform that is 6 inches narrower than the length of the bike! It sounds impossible, but Team Extreme promises this and more during their performances throughout the three-day Philadelphia show.

Feeling lucky? Show attendees who answer "Yes!" to this question will be sure to participate in the numerous show giveaway opportunities. For a shot at both four and two-wheeled transportation, show-goers can enter the Toyota Tundra Sweepstakes, which includes the chance to win a 2000 Toyota Tundra or a 2000 Yamaha TT-R225.

Consumers who dream of owning a smooth ride can also enter to win a 2000 Suzuki DR-Z400S -- the Official Motorcycle Giveaway of the 2000 show series. In addition, Product Giveaways will award prizes to attendees throughout the day. Featuring merchandise donated by original equipment manufacturers, this show highlight brings immediate rewards!

For a local twist, "Cycle World Magazine" will be hosting the "Cycle World" Custom Collection, a showcase of classic, custom and vintage motorcycles from local riders and clubs.

Not only does this feature give local collectors the chance to show off their bikes to an educated audience, but it also offers enthusiasts a glimpse of the limitless restoration and customizing possibilities available to them.

Tickets are available on-site, adults $9; children ages 6-11, $4; children under 6, free. Groups of 20 or more can contact TEAM "Powersports" for information on receiving a $2 admission price discount. Members of the American Motorcyclist Association who show their membership cards when purchasing their tickets are also eligible for a $1 rebate coupon to be redeemed at the AMA show booth.

$1 discount coupons can be found at local participating dealers. Advance tickets are available online at the show Web site, www.motorcycleshows.com.
