19 January 2000

North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2000 Announces Another Record Attendance Figure
DETROIT, Jan. 18 -- The North American International Auto
Show 2000 released its fourth-day attendance figure, a record 73,329 people
who visited the show today. The figure eclipses the old mark of 69,069 set in
1998. Russ Shelton, senior co-chair of the NAIAS, says we may break all
previous attendance records.
"The combination of great cars and great weather is working well for us,"
said Shelton. "Right now we're about 33-percent ahead of this time last year
in terms of attendance and it doesn't appear to be slowing down."
More than 700 vehicles are on display at Cobo Center through January 23,
2000, including 55 new vehicles introduced at NAIAS 2000.
    The show is open daily from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. from Saturday, January 15 -
Saturday, January 22, and from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on the closing day, Sunday,
January 23. Tickets cost $10 each for 12 and over, and $5 for seniors, and
can be purchased at Ticket Master outlets and at Cobo Center. Children under
