2000 Ford Windstar Limited - A Supreme PackageDETROIT, Jan. 11 -- The 2000 Ford Windstar expands its appeal to customers and enters the growing premium minivan market by adding a Limited package to its lineup. These include side air bags, reverse sensing system, power adjustable pedals, floor console, Class II Trailer Tow Package and a Family Security Group with traction control and a Passive Anti-Theft System. "The Windstar SEL, which is Ford's current top-of-the-line minivan model, has been extremely popular with customers since it was introduced this year," says Jim Townsend, Windstar brand manager. "With customers migrating to higher-end models throughout the minivan segment, we thought the time was right to offer a premium package to strengthen our competitive position in the marketplace." In addition to the equipment common to the SEL series, the Windstar Limited includes the following unique features offered on no other Windstar models: * 16- by x 7-inch 10-spoke aluminum wheels * Six-disc, in-dash CD changer * Unique exterior color of Light Parchment Gold or optional Black Clearcoat * Unique fascia/cladding in Mineral Gray * Chrome exterior and interior trim accents * Color-keyed interior trim in Medium Parchment * Leather grab handles on front-row seat backs * Floor mats with the Limited nomenclature * Woodgrain interior door trim panel * TravelNote message recorder * Tissue holder in overhead console Empty nest couples and older couples with young children are expected to be attracted to the Windstar Limited. It is for those who want more luxurious appointments and conveniences in their vehicle, but do not want the task of choosing a lot of optional equipment. They view the unique and standard features on a premium vehicle like the Windstar Limited as a reward for all that they do. "The Windstar Limited creates a more upscale environment for customers looking to be pampered by their vehicle," says Townsend. "This is particularly important in the minivan segment, where customers are typically balancing the many responsibilities of work and family life. Driving their vehicle should be as relaxing an experience as possible."
