Pep Boys Offers Pennsylvania Turnpike Motorists Money-Saving Coupons

PHILADELPHIA--Dec. 1, 1999--Starting today, motorists on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Southeastern Pennsylvania will be provided with money-saving coupons, courtesy of Pep Boys, as part of the Turnpike's ongoing coupon program.
The coupons will be good for $10 off a purchase of $50 at participating Pep Boys Supercenters.
The coupons are printed on the back of toll receipts available between Turnpike exits 24 and 30. Those exits are: Valley Forge, Norristown, Mid-County, Fort Washington, Willow Grove, Philadelphia, Delaware Valley and the Delaware River Bridge. The coupons expire March 27, 2000.
"Travelers receiving the receipts benefit by getting added value for their car care needs," said Bill Furtkevic, Pep Boys' Director of Marketing Communications. "With some 3.2 million cars on the Turnpike between exits 24 and 30 each month, the coupon program will hopefully become an effective way for us to reach our customers directly, and while they're in their vehicles!"
"This is a win-win situation," said the Turnpike's Executive Director John Durbin. "Travelers receiving the receipts win because they get the added value of the coupon, other users of the Turnpike benefit because the proceeds go into our general operating account and will help to keep fares at competitive levels."
Durbin noted that the program is part of an ongoing effort by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to maximize non-fare revenue.
Pep Boys, founded in 1921 , has more than 650 locations in 37 states and Puerto Rico. Customers can find the nearest location by dialing 1-800-PEP-BOYS or visiting Pep Boys on the Internet at pepboys.com.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike is a key transportation route within the state of Pennsylvania and is a vital link in the network of the eastern United States. The Turnpike is 506 miles in length with 46 interchanges, 20 maintenance facilities, eight State Police barracks and five tunnels.
