ADP Dealer Services Assumes Complete IT Responsibilities for 460 Nissan Motor Germany Dealers

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill.--Nov. 30, 1999--ADP Dealer Services has assumed complete information technology (IT) responsibilities for 460 Nissan Motor Germany dealers, including dealer management system (DMS) software and on-site and telephone hotline technical support. ADP will also provide personal computer hardware and installation of networking hardware for all 700 Nissan Motor Germany dealers.
"The goal of this agreement is to allow both Nissan and ADP to focus on what they do best," said Ferdinand Moers, Marketing Director for ADP dealer services Germany AG. "It's a major step for both companies. We have created a partnership that is designed to provide the most advanced IT capabilities available anywhere for Nissan dealers. ADP has full responsibility for providing a complete range of services on a very cost-effective basis."
"ADP Dealer Services is able to offer dealers and manufacturers the choices they need in information management - whether it is on-site computing, web-based systems, application servers or a systems management arrangement," said John Gray, Senior Vice President - Marketing and e-business for ADP.
In the past, Nissan Motor Germany met all of the IT requirements of its dealers including software, hardware and technical support. DMS software was purchased about five years ago by a company that is now owned by ADP. Nissan management wanted to free up its own IT staff for core activities while upgrading to the latest version of ADP's software. Toni Pulm, Managing Director of Nissan Motor Germany, and Ernst Brokbals, Chairman of the Board of ADP Dealer Services Germany, negotiated an agreement under which Nissan would transfer complete IT responsibilities for 460 dealers now using ADP's DMS software and hardware responsibilities for 300 additional dealers using other DMS's.
A key part of the agreement was upgrading the 460 dealers to the latest version of ADP's AutoData(TM) DMS software. This software package, combined with several custom Nissan applications, is called AutoDat within the Nissan organization. ADP will install networking routers and cabling, which will provide faster and more reliable communications with Nissan Europe headquarters in the United Kingdom. ADP will distribute the Nissan CD-based parts catalog, which is called Eurofast, and provide telephone support for this product. ADP will also provide telephone support for Nissan Bank applications.
