CSK Auto Corporation Names Martin Fraser EVP

     - Responsible for Distribution, Merchandising and Commercial Areas,
               as Well as the Company's E-Commerce Initiative -

    PHOENIX, -- CSK Auto Corporation announced today that Martin Fraser 
has been promoted to Executive Vice President of CSK Auto, Inc., a 
wholly-owned subsidiary which is the largest retailer of automotive parts and 
accessories in the Western United States and one of the largest such retailers 
in the country.

    Mr. Fraser most recently was Senior Vice President with responsibility for
the Company's Distribution, Merchandising, and Commercial activities.  He will
continue to oversee these areas, and will assume an expanded role in leading
CSK Auto's e-commerce initiative, CSKAUTO.COM.

    "Since Martin Fraser joined CSK Auto 22 years ago, he has had an enormous
impact on the success of the Company," said Maynard Jenkins, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer of CSK Auto Corporation.  "He has demonstrated his
exceptional leadership abilities in overseeing the Company's distribution,
merchandising, and commercial activities, and is playing an increasing role in
guiding the CSK's industry leading e-commerce effort as well."

in the Western United States with annual sales in excess of $1 billion, and is
among the top five automotive aftermarket retailers in the nation.  CSK
operates more than 1,100 stores in 17 states under four brand names: Checker
Auto Parts in the Southwest and Rocky Mountain regions, Schuck's Auto Supply
in the Pacific Northwest, Kragen Auto Parts in California, and Big Wheel in
the Northern Plains region.
