BMW and eBay to Announce Official Winner of Charity Auction By Tuesday
WOODCLIFF LAKE, NEW JERSEY, NOVEMBER 7, 1999
After 10 days of
bidding, BMW of North America, Inc., ended their charity auction for the
first customer-delivered X5 Sports Activity Vehicle on eBay - the worlds
largest person-to-person online trading community. All auction proceeds
will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to support breast
cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.
Were thrilled with the tremendous interest in BMWs all-new X5
Sports Activity Vehicle and the support people have shown to the Komen
Foundation, said Tom Purves, Chairman and CEO of the BMW (US) Holding
Corp. Thanks to everyone who participated for your generosity and help in
making this promotion a success.
Because of the overwhelming response to the online auction, BMW is
currently verifying the winning bid. This final winning bid will be
announced by Tuesday.
The online auction was BMWs final event of the year to support the Komen
Foundation. During the last three years, BMW has donated more than $3
million to Komen through its unique grassroots fund-raising program, the
Ultimate Drive, where BMW invites customers and the general public to test
specially badged BMWs. For every mile that is test driven during these
events, BMW donates $1 to the Komen Foundation. The program wrapped up
year three on October 28th in LA.
