Mobil 1 Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Free Limited Edition Collectible Mobil 1 No.12 Race Car

FAIRFAX, Va.--Nov. 2, 1999--To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil, Mobil is offering a miniature collectible version of a special edition of Jeremy Mayfield's Mobil 1 No.12 race car that will be driven in just two NASCAR Winston Cup races. Mayfield will drive the specially painted red and black Mobil 1 No.12 Ford Taurus only at Phoenix, Arizona, on November 7 and in Homestead, Florida, on November 14.
The 1:64 scale die-cast miniature collectible model car will be available from November 1, 1999, to December 31, 1999, at participating retail stores, oil change centers, Mobil service stations, Mobil On the Run stores and Mobil Marts. The car will be free to customers with the purchase of either a Mobil 1 oil change, a six-pack of Mobil 1 or a five-quart jug of Mobil 1. The car will be available at participating Mobil service stations at a discounted suggested retail price of $2.49 with a minimum eight gallon gasoline purchase or with any Coca-Cola purchase.
"Grab this one while you can," said Jeremy Mayfield, driver of the No.12 Mobil 1 Ford Taurus. "This car will really look great on the race track."
This is the third collectible edition of the No.12 race car made available by Mobil. Over one million copies of the original car have been sold since it made its debut in February 1998, and a one-time special edition created for this year's Kentucky Derby sold out as soon as it was made available last spring.
"This is the first time a collectible edition is being offered free by Mobil 1," said Bob Lierle, Mobil 1 Communications Manager. "It's our way of celebrating the 25th anniversary and thanking the many loyal customers who have made Mobil 1 the most popular synthetic motor oil in the world."
