Kia Announces Voluntary Recall For Catalytic Converter Replacement
IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 29 -- Kia today announced a voluntary
recall of selected 1995 Sportage sport-utility vehicles to replace the
catalytic converter.
A total of 5,273 Sportages will be recalled due to premature deterioration
of the catalytic converter. If the catalytic converter is not replaced, it
could alter the effectiveness of the emissions system and could cause a
vehicle to fail a vehicle inspection or a registration renewal emission test.
This is not a safety-related recall.
Sportage owners are being asked by mail to bring their vehicle to a Kia
dealership so that the catalytic converter can be replaced. The one-hour
procedure will be done at no charge.
Kia Motors America is the U.S. sales, marketing and service arm of Kia
Motors Corp. of Seoul, South Korea.
