Nissan Xterra 2000 Sport/Utility Named Vehicle of the Year

21 October 1999

Motor Trend Magazine Names the Nissan Xterra 2000 Sport/Utility Vehicle of the Year
ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 20 -- C. Van Tune, MOTOR TREND's
editor-in-chief, presented the Motor Trend "SUV of the Year" award to Gary Van
Houten, Nissan's Corporate Manager, Model Line Marketing for the Nissan
Xterra. The event took place at the Anaheim Marriott in conjunction with the
California International Auto Show. In naming the winner, MOTOR TREND
applauded the Xterra's modern styling, outstanding value, versatile range of
options, fun-to-drive nature, youthful twist and appealing sticker price.
"Offering all this built-in value, plus the refinement and technical
know-how of a modern, new millennium vehicle, the Xterra is clearly a winner,"
noted MOTOR TREND editors.
This is the second year that MOTOR TREND presented an SUV award,
recognizing the most significant vehicle in this extremely popular and rapidly
evolving segment of the automotive market. The "SUV of the year" joins MOTOR
TREND's "Car of the Year" and "Truck of the Year" programs, widely regarded as
the most coveted awards in the automotive industry.
