Isuzu Offers Transferable 10-Year/120,000-mile Warranty in 2000; New Powertrain Warranty Longest in America

CERRITOS, Calif.--Oct. 20, 1999--American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) announced a new powertrain warranty.
The new warranty covers the original owner or lessee for 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the date the customer receives their new 2000 Isuzu SUV, making it the longest powertrain warranty offered by any automaker in the United States.
In addition, this warranty is transferable to immediate family (spouse, son or daughter) of the original owner or lessee.
AIMI's new warranty covers repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship in the engine, transmission, steering assembly, suspension and axles.
This warranty will be honored at every Isuzu Dealer in the United States and all covered repairs, including parts and labor, will be made at no charge. Adjustment and maintenance items are not covered by this warranty.
"Adding the longest powertrain warranty on the U.S. market," said Bob Reilly, Chief Operating Officer, SUV, "to our already impressive new vehicle warranty package, demonstrates in a tangible way, the confidence we have in our product. I believe we've always offered the SUV buyer the best value on the market and this new warranty says in the strongest way, we're willing to back that belief with actions, not just words."
The new vehicle basic coverage of three years or 50,000 miles, remains in effect, as do the one-year or 12,000 mile service adjustment coverage; the six-year or 100,000 mile corrosion protection; and the five-year or 60,000 mile road side assistance.
For second and subsequent owners or lessees, and fleet and commercially used vehicles, the powertrain warranty reverts to AIMI's 5-year or 60,000 mile warranty, beginning from the date the original owner/lessee received their vehicle.
