Celebrating the Century of the Car By Electing the Car of the Century; "All Aboard for the Grand Finale in Las Vegas"

LOS ANGELES--(AutomotiveWire)--Sept. 27, 1999--At the end of the century of the car, what would your vote be for the Car of the Century, the single vehicle that has meant the most to 100 years of motoring?
Would it be the rare and lovely Bugatti T35? The stately and exclusive Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost? The ubiquitous Volkswagen Beetle or the equally basic Citroen 2CV?
Would you opt for a sportier model, say the Alfa-Romeo Giulietta Sprint Coupe, the more exotic Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, the streamlined Jaguar E-type, the muscular Corvette Stingray, or the long-lived Porsche 911?
Or would your choice be something as prosaic as the Ford Model T, the Renault Espace minivan, or the Jeep?
These are just some of the nominees for the Car of the Century, one of which will be elected by a panel of international judges at the Venetian Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas on Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999.
During a Grand Finale Gala Evening, the Car of the Century will be chosen from five Official Finalists, pre-selected by a jury of 132 prominent car journalists from 33 countries and car enthusiasts from around the globe.
Jury members, top executives from the car industry, celebrities, members of car clubs and other car enthusiasts will all meet in Las Vegas for the Grand Finale of the election of the Car of the Century.
During that same evening, the Car Entrepreneur, the Car Designer, the Car Engineer and the Car Executive of the Century will also be honored with special awards.
The Gala Ceremony will be hosted by a TV celebrity and broadcast in many countries around the world. The Gala Evening will be the culmination of a two-day event featuring a display of the nominated cars, and several exciting car-related events.
Until Nov. 28, 1999, car enthusiasts can vote for their choice of Car of the Century on the COTC Web site, www.cotc.com. This Web site is a fast-growing car enthusiast community, where people can meet other car aficionados, get the latest car news, play games, exchange views and chat.
In addition, visitors to the Car of the Century Web site can also participate in a prize contest in which all of the prizes will be cars.
Car enthusiasts and COTC supporters who do not want to miss the Grand Finale can get all necessary information and make arrangements to attend the celebrations in Las Vegas through the Web site, www.cotc.com, and the following toll-free telephone number, 877/819-COTC (2682), and toll-free fax number, 877/819-1288.
The Car of the Century Grand Finale Gala is the century's biggest global event for anyone who shares the spirit of a deep and abiding love of cars.
Without any doubt, the automobile has been one of the most significant inventions of mankind, and has given people around the world unprecedented individual freedom of movement.
But beyond its utilitarian functions, the design and engineering of the automobile have touched deep human passion. Its significant contributions to life, and its impact on society and human emotions, have led enthusiasts to organize the election of the Car of the Century.
